About Us

Welcome to Belmont Springs Ranch, a family-owned homestead nestled in the heart of Central Montana. Founded over two decades ago by Julie and Steve Hackmann, our ranch has evolved to include a diverse mix of sheep, goats, poultry, and exceptional Livestock Guardian Dogs. In 2021, we found our dream property, a 160-acre homestead, and embarked on a journey to build our legacy.

We found our dream property in January 2021 and moved our family here in April of the same year. It was an old 160 acre homestead that hadn't really been lived on for decades. We spent the summer building a house and getting our ranch plans organized.

Sadly in March of 2023 Steve was diagnosed with brain tumors and melanoma. He passed away in October of 2023, leaving myself and our 8 remaining minor children to try and make our ranch a profitable business. Our older children, two of them in particular, are putting in a lot of time and effort helping us get on our feet. We have lots of ideas and are striving to make Steve's dream a reality. 

 

Our immediate goals are to continue developing our ranch and get to the point of direct marketing grass fed lamb and chevon as well as free range poultry. We are also breeding purebred Great Pyrenees Livestock guardian dogs.
