So, You Bought Some Lamb… Now What?

Maybe you’re excited to try something new.
Perhaps you bought lamb because you care about feeding your family healthier, locally raised meat.
Or you opened your freezer, looked at those lamb cuts, and thought:

“Okay… now, what's the best way to cook this?”

If that sounds familiar, you are not alone.

One of the most common questions I get is:

“How do I prepare lamb?”

Followed closely by:

  • “What seasonings should I use?”
  • “Do you have recipes?”

And really, I understand.

Lamb is one of the most enjoyed meats around the world, and yet here in the U.S. many families simply didn’t grow up eating it. Most people never knew how simple — and absolutely delectable — it can be.

The good news?
Cooking lamb does not have to be complicated or intimidating.

In fact, one of the things our customers are often surprised by is how mild and flavorful lamb is. Properly cooked lamb should taste savory, rich, and satisfying — not overpowering. And when paired with the right herbs and spices, it becomes the kind of meal your family talks about long after supper is over.

A simple roast with garlic and rosemary.
Lamb burgers on a busy weeknight.
Slow-cooked shanks simmering away, while you bake sourdough, work in the garden or go for a walk with your kids.

These are the kinds of comforting, nourishing meals that bring together, time and time again.

The biggest secret to enjoying lamb is simple: seasonings matter.

The right blend can turn a good meal into something truly memorable. The wrong one can completely overpower the natural flavor and leave people thinking "it's gamey" and they “don’t like lamb,” when actually, they just haven’t had it prepared well yet.

That’s one reason I'm excited to announce that starting in June, we’ll be offering carefully crafted spice packets alongside our lamb.

I wanted to make preparing lamb feel doable, even on hectic days when life is busy and supper still needs to get on the table.

These blends are designed to complement the mild flavor of our lamb and make preparation simple:

  • Rub it in
  • Cook
  • Enjoy

No exotic ingredients, tedious steps, or guesswork. Just healthy, hearty meals made easier.

Because at the end of the day, I understand that what you serve your family matters to you as much as what I serve mine matters to me.

A lot of us are working hard to move away from heavily processed foods and focusing on meals that are more nourishing and wholesome. You want food that is grown the old-fashioned way, by local farmers and ranchers you know and trust. I hear you. That matters to me too.

My family and I take tremendous pride in raising our lamb with care and respect, and we truly want your family to enjoy every bite as much as ours does.

If you ever need recipes, cooking tips, or ideas for how to use a particular cut, or just to chat about lamb, ask me. I love helping families feel confident cooking lamb.

After all, good food tastes even better when it brings people together.
